Mobile Meth Lab Leads To Arrests

(WALHALLA, SC) – Deputies intercept mobile meth lab on interstate 85.

On October 27, 2011, Oconee County deputies discovered a mobile methamphetamine laboratory during a traffic stop at exit 4 on interstate 85 in Oconee County.

At approximately 11:30 a.m, officers and K-9 units found a package containing materials for cooking methamphetamine in the back of a green Jeep Cherokee after stopping the vehicle for a traffic violation.

Phillip Allen McGee, age 37, of Beach Mountain NC and Savannah Dawn Hughes, age 21, of Roan Mountain TN were both arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. Both are currently incarcerated at the Oconee County Detention Center.

A hazardous materials contractor was called to the scene to assist in cleaning up and securing the meth-making materials.
